Varaha uMobility good but can be better
iOS4 report: uMobility does work, but as it is NOT an iOS4 App, it does NOT multitask, it does load faster and switches to 'Registered' status faster. Still need settings as below. If a call does go cellular before walking into office Wi-Fi, though the 'Switch to uMobility' notification comes out, clicking to switch does NOT do so. Better to hit home button and select uMobility, in 5 sec. it will switch over. Hopefully Varaha will upgrade to iOS4 soon, as VOIP programs have a priority setting to stay active if written correctly. They still need own power saver screen and own Auto-lock. Since Skype has a 'Disable Auto-lock' button, uMobility could as well.
Version 2.1.4 fixes some bugs with contacts with photos that made the App crash, and gives a normal busy signal if calling someone on another line rather than a failed call sound. Also calls that are transferred from cellular to Wi-Fi that had been on speaker or muted were not transferred that way but you were not aware of that. You still don't always get notified of the ability to return to Wi-Fi when you enter a building with supported Wi-Fi, but you can still hit home button and re-launch uMobility and in 30-60sec it will return calls to Wi-Fi.
If you leave the application on, and auto-lock off but still connected to your supported Wi-Fi for more than 11 to 15 minutes, all calls still go to cellular and don't switch to Wi-Fi, and it gives you an error code 567. If you turn off 'Signaling over 3G' in the profile from the uMobility in Settings menu, then this won't happen as long as it is being charged, but on battery it still shuts off and all calls go cellular. Must be an Apple Power Saving sub-routine. This needs a fix (if you turn 3G off in Network setting, then your lose cell calls to voice mail. With 'Signaling over 3G off, then Auto-Lock and Pass-Codes interfere with calls.
Varaha needs to design their own Pass-Code and Auto-Lock like functionality.
When the phone goes into Auto-lock sleep mode the calls go cellular and that's makes you unable to transfer calls. Need to make their own Auto-lock (fade to black screen) so we can turn the Auto-lock off on the phone and uMobility will always be available. It is nice to call patients and for them not to get personal cell phone numbers. Clarity of calls and ease of use makes it a winner. Support has been great and they have been wonderfully supportive of iPhone platform (as we all know is a thousand times better than Windows Mobile!).
